Conversations With Experts So You Can Lift Yourself While Raising Children
Welcome to Lonely Moms Club. Subscribe if you’re reading this and saying “YES! That’s Me!”
Moms have a lot on their minds—but they don’t always have time to research expert ways to help improve their lives, or privacy to call a friend for support. Motherhood is hard—and often lonely—in different ways and stages.
Through my conversations with experts, you’ll learn how to lift yourself while raising children.
It’s possible to find snippets of self-care, glimmering moments as you scrape slime off your dining table, ways to invest in your financial future, chase your dreams, and more while you’re in the thick of it.
I’m Joelle Speranza: a dream chasing mom of two children (ages 10 and 7) and three dogs. I have been working in the media for over 20 years as a publicist, author, and journalist. It’s my passion to share information, expert tips, and even products to help improve your life, bring joy, and live your life to its fullest.
As a book publicist for leading experts, I always joke that my clients are my personal advisory board. I use all the inside knowledge from therapists, finance experts, health and wellness experts, parenting experts, career coaches, and more for my own self-growth and sanity. Now, I’m tapping into my network—and other awesome experts!—and conducting interviews for all moms.
I’ll do the research and share tips from my conversations with experts so you can spend less time posting anonymous comments in online mommy groups and get the answers you need to navigate your motherhood journey.
If you feel like you don’t have time to meet with your friends, perhaps have mom guilt for leaving the house, aren’t sure if you even have a social circle anymore, or are struggling for a solid connection beyond playdate scheduling with other moms, this space is for you.
It’s for me, too.
I’ve gone through different friendships through life stages. I lost my high school friends when I got divorced in my 20s (but I wrote a book about it called Trash the Dress: Stories of Celebrating Divorce in your 20s). Then, I connected with a bunch of dream chasing women in college to start an indie music ‘zine and TV show which was super fun—until we all had to grow up, get real jobs, and oh yea…got married. So those friendships faded away. When I got remarried and had kids, I dedicated my life to spending every free moment with my babies (Working mom guilt! Anxiety! Homebody!). Now, my kids are more independent and my husband travels for work a lot so I’m often left thinking about how life is changing and I’ve become an elder Millennial in perimenopause raising a tween daughter and little boy who is not so little anymore!
Lately I’ve been worrying about maintaining and forming my own friendships with women that can withstand our children growing up. My daughter is graduating elementary school this year and my social life has revolved mostly around families of her friends. I love it but can’t help but wonder what happens when her friendships change in middle school. Will my friends and I still be close when we don’t have to always touch base about our kids or if our kids no longer get along?
It’s a little lonely out here. So I decided it’s time to get back to my passions—writing and specifically journalism and interviewing people with incredible, inspiring stories and tips to empower others and help moms find their community.
I have stories to tell, and I want to hear yours, too.
I’ll be interviewing experts about these topics and more:
· Family and parenting
· Mental health
· Marriage
· Dream Chasing
· Finances
· Career
· Self-care
· Friendships
Together, we can build a community and connection to help make motherhood a little less lonely by learning how to grow along with our kids.
